Exercise 6
Purpose: to help students use appropriate exclamations
· Direct students to the Example. Read it a-loud, or have a student read it. Ask if there are other exclamations that would be appropriate to use. Elicit Wow! and What a great kick!. You may skip this step if you feel students are ready to do the exercise.
· Say "Make sentences with the words and add the exclamations from Exercise 5". Monitor as students complete the questions, offering assistance as needed. If students need sup-port, have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answers, having pairs of students read the sentences and exclamations aloud.

Exercise 7
Purpose: to help students respond to recent events using exclamations
· Think of a recent event that you can tell your students, for example, "My car broke down last weekend!" Elicit a response in the form of an exclamation, directing students to the Key Expressions if necessary. Have them practise responding to your statement using the exclamations. Alternately, you can read the Example. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
· Say "Think of five events that have happened recently, either to you personally or in the news". Give students a few moments to think. When they are ready, have students get into pairs. Say "Tell your partner the events and respond to your partner's events using exclamations" Monitor, offering help as needed.
· Come together as a class, having students share the events. Encourage the class to respond with appropriate exclamations.
