专题14 中国传统文化(三)20篇
(2023上·山东青岛·九年级统考期中)Chinese ancient wisdom puts the year into 24 solar terms (节气). Cold Dew (露水) is the 17th solar term of the year. It starts this year on Oct 8 and ends on Oct 23.
At this time, the weather gets colder in most parts of China. The dew is greater and colder. That’s why this time is called Cold Dew. There will be less rain, but there will be some fog.
Good things come along at this time, too. Autumn crops (农作物) will be ripe (成熟). It’s also a good time for fishing. That’s because it’s colder in water during the cold dew time. Fish like to swim in shallow water where it is warmer.
Hiking is another popular activity during this time. North China takes on a beautiful look of late autumn with white clouds, red leaves, and early frost (霜). Chongyang Festival, also known as the Double Ninth Festival, often falls around cold dew. It is the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese calendar. On this day, people often climb hills and wear cornels (茱萸).

There is a saying that goes “It is time to harvest hawthorn during cold dew.” For a long time, people have used, hawthorns in herbal medicine (草药). They think it’s good for blood flow and heart health.
