Explain that when we use be going to to talk about future plans, we often use a time phrase such as tonight to indicate when in the future. If you feel students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step. Direct students to the sentences in the Sentence Builder chart. Read the sentences aloud, having students repeat after you. Point out the forms of be going to and revise the use of on with days of the week. Say " Now write five sentences about you and your friends' future plans". Monitor as students write sentences, offering help as needed. Go over the answers, having students compare sentences with a partner. Then have individual students read their sentences aloud. Expansion: Show What You Know! Note: Use this activity to give students more practice. Have students work in pairs or small groups to brainstorm other time phrases, or brainstorm phrases as a class. Students should produce phrases such as this autumn, this spring, this winter; today, the day after tomorrow; on Monday, Tuesday, etc.; next month, next year, next Saturday, etc.; this morning, this afternoon, this evening. Speaking Exercise 7 Purpose: to help students complete a table with their plans to ask and answer questions about their plans in pairs Direct students to the table. Read the first phrase in the left-hand column aloud. Say Let's make a question using be going to and these words". Elicit or provide Where are you going to go? Then ask "What's the answer?"
