Unit 1 Lesson 1 After School(第一课时) Warm-up Lesson Focus • Verbs • Talking about your after-school routine • Adverbs of frequency • Words with the sound /a/ Exercise 1 Purpose: to help students discuss what they do after school Direct students to the photo of the boy with headphones who is reading. Ask " What does he do after school?" Elicit He listens to music and reads a book. Ask about the other two photos. Elicit They play badminton. They watch TV / a movie. Ask " What are some other after-school activities?" Elicit some activities, writing them on the board. Students may produce the following activities: go to the cinema, play ping pong / tennis / chess, do homework, run. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step. Ask a more proficient student " What do you do after school?" Elicit an appropriate response, for example, I play the piano. Have students get into groups of three or four. Then say "Discuss what you do after school. Make a list of the activities". Monitor as students talk about what they do after school, offering assistance as needed. You may wish to have students make their lists individually first, or in pairs, and then discuss in groups. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words. If time allows, do Workbook page 82, Exercise 1. Alternately, assign for homework. Expansion: Keep Talking! Note: Use this activity to give your students more practice. Have students continue to talk about what they do after school. Encourage them to say what their family members or friends do. They may also talk about what they do on the weekends. Be sure to offer help with any vocabulary or structures. Listening Exercise 2 Purpose: to help students listen to an interview to complete a schedule Direct students to Steve's schedule.
