Ask "Which letters are these, vowels or consonants?" Elicit or provide consonants. · Direct students to the words in the exercise, pointing out the red letters. Play the recordoing. Say the first consonant sound several times and a word with the /1/ sound, for example, like. Say " Repeat after me, /1/, /l/, /l/, like". Say the rest of the sounds, pointing to each letter as you say the sound and word. Pay attention to the red letters". Check students' pronunciation of the consonants.
