This is an instructional design based on English learning activities including three kinds of activities which are activities for learning and understanding, activities for applying and practicing and activities for transforming and innovating. Applying these activities is beneficial for students to understand text better, apply English better in real life and cultivate their creative thinking. 2. This design is based on integrative unit teaching of thematic meaning. This lesson which is about people’s life has been changed by the Internet shows unit theme--the Internet and helps students have a better understanding about it. 3. This design is based on the learner--centered teaching method. In this lesson, the teacher will guide students to think individually and discuss with their teammates to cultivate their core competence of English learning. Why: The students are supposed to learn from Jan’s experience and think about how to make the best use of the Internet to make their and others' lives better. How: In this passage, the author takes the wide application of the Internet as the background, and compares people’s changes before and after using the Internet to encourage students to take full advantage of the Internet and pass positive energy with it.
