Handling an Emergency
An emergency is a serious situation that happens unexpectedly( 意外地) and needs immediate action(立即采取行动). Some tips will be helpful when there is an emergency.
Reading Activity
Read the following passage and try to understand it.
Determine(决定) if you can do anything to help. The most important thing is to remain calm(保持冷静), and see if you can control the situation. Sometimes there is nothing you can do.
Take time to think before acting. Instead of reacting to a situation(情况,形势) without reasonable thinking, take a deep breath(深呼吸).
Get the first aid kit. A first aid kit is a set of materials and tools(工具) used for giving emergency treatment(处理) to a sick or injured person. If you can't find one, consider other items that might be good substitutes(替代品).
Avoid moving an injured person. If someone has a neck injury((身体上的)伤), moving him or her could result in more serious injuries. Call emergency services at once(立刻) if someone is unable to move.
