Section Ⅴ　Writing 介绍动物的说明文 [对应学生用书P152] 本单元的写作要求是介绍动物。此类写作以说明为主要表达方式，用来介绍动物的类属、生活习惯、外形特点等。在写作时多用一般现在时。基本框架为： 1．开头——总体概括介绍； 2．主体——进行具体介绍； 3．结尾——做总结。 (一)常用话题词块 1．migrate v．迁徙 2．mass adj.大量的 3．destroy v．破坏 4．balance n．平衡 5．increase v．增加 6．as white as snow 像雪一样白 7．a symbol of ...……的象征 8．at present目前，现在 9．the number of ...……的数量 10．protect wildlife保护野生生物 11．in size/weight/height在尺寸/重量/身高方面 12．feed on以……为食 13．a small population少量 14．die out灭绝 15．call on号召 16．take measures采取措施 17．be aware of意识到 (二)常用开头句 1．The tiger is an animal that/which lives in the mountains. 老虎是一种生活在山里的动物。 2．It feeds on/lives on ... 它靠……为生。 (三)常用中间句 1．Some tigers are up to 3 metres long. 有些老虎能长到3米长。 2．There are fewer tigers left in the world now. 现在世界上剩下的老虎越来越少了。 3．Unluckily, the number of dolphins is getting smaller and smaller. 不幸的是，海豚的数量越来越少。 4．Many trees are being cut down and more and more forests are lost, making animals lose their homes to live in. 许多树木被砍倒，越来越多的森林消失了，这使得动物失去了它们生活的家园。 5．Dolphins live in the sea.
