As they were walking along by its side, a countryman(农村人）passed them and said, “You fools, what is a donkey for”? You should ride on the donkey.” So the man put the boy on the donkey, and they went on their way. But soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said, “See that lazy boy, he lets his father walk while he rides.” So the man told the boy to get off, and got on himself. But they had not gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other, “Shame on that lazy man to let his poor little son walk so far. He seems so tired !” Well, the man didn’t know what to do .He decided to put his son on the donkey in front of him. By this time they had come to the town. The people passing by began to shout and point at them. The man leaned down and asked what they were unhappy about. The men replied, “Are you not ashamed(羞耻的) to overload (使超载) your poor donkey so that you and your lazy big son can sit down？”The man and the boy got off ,and tried to think what to do. They thought and they thought, till at last they had an idea. They cut down a pole(杆子)，tied(系) the donkey’s feet to it, and raised (抬升) the pole and the donkey to their shoulders.
