II.Material Analysis
The teaching material is taken from PEP, Go for it,Unit 5 Do you have a soccer ball? Section A(1a-1c) Book 7A. It is
a listening and speaking lesson about talking about sports and ownership, which is close to students' life. It includes three
parts: 1a, 1b,1c.1a mainly deals with the words.1b mainly deals with listening, from which students can get the target
sentences.1c provides a chance for the students to practice the patterns: “Do you have ....? -Yes,I do./ No,I don’t.”.Our
students have known “Do you have ....? -Yes,I do./ No,I don’t.” in primary school ,so it’s not difficult for them to
understand and use these patterns.Through the lesson, students can know how to talk about sports and ownership. If they
can learn it well, it will help students to understand the rest of this unit better. Meanwhile, their ability of listening and
speaking will also be improved.
III.Learners Analysis
As students in Grade 7 have learnt English for many years, they have got English learning strategies and abilities to
some degree. Before this unit, students have learnt some words and phrases about sports and they have already known
the sentence pattern “Do you...? -Yes,I do./ No,I don’t” ,which can lay a good foundation for the following
steps. However, they may have difficulty with the words about sports things. Also, they may ignore the intonation of
general questions. Therefore, more practice will be used to promote their better understanding in the course of teaching
and learning.
