Unit 4 Growing up
本单元的主题是“长大”,从学生对世界的认知途径出发,引导学生领悟、思考长大的意义不仅
仅在于身体方面的成长,还包括对梦想的追求、对于社会的认知等精神层面的成长
第一课时 Comic strip & Welcome to the unit 通过 Hobo 和 Eddie 之间的简单诙谐的对话引出本
单元的主题“Growing up”,通过引导学生讨论交谈彼此通过什么样的方式或途径来认识了解这个
世界的,来训练学生自编对话谈论喜欢哪种方式来解了解外面的世界及其原因;Reading 是阅读训
练课,是本单元的重点,通过选取了一篇题为 the shortest player in the NBA 的文章,向学生介绍了
NBA 的球星 Spud 因为身高太矮,在篮球事业上遭遇诸多不顺,但他并没有放弃,凭着自己对篮球
的热爱和坚持不懈的努力,终于取得成功。 为了帮助学生更好地理解文章内容,教材从词汇、段落
大意、Spud 的个人信息,以及在不同的人生阶段遇到的挫折时的态度四个方面设计了练习;
Grammar 讲解的是连词 before, after,when, while, since, till,until,as soon as,whenever 引导的时间
状语从句的用法,分别安排了多种形式的练习来操练;Integrated skills 围绕 Anne Frank 的经历及其
在二战期间写的日记为题材,训练学生的听力和对话能力,同时让学生了解战争给世界人民带来的
灾难和痛楚;Study skills 介绍的是如何根据单词的构成来猜测词汇,并通过具体的练习来操练;最
后一个课时 Task 根据学生写一篇文章介绍对自己影响最大的人,在动笔写之前让学生学习范文,
在回答问题最后进行写作训练。 Task 从笔头方面考查学生能否正确运用本单元所学的知识。
