Warm-up
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students know subjects taught at school
· Bring in pictures or draw pictures on the board to represent different subjects. Alternately, bring in some objects. For example, bring in a paintbrush for art, an English textbook for English, a world map or globe for geography, a statue or antique for history, a ball for PE, a beaker or microscope for science and a musical instrument for music. For Chinese, draw a Chinese character on the board and write a maths problem for maths. Point to the Chinese character and ask“What's the subject?”.Elicit Chinese and write it on the board. Continue with the other subjects. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the photos. Say“Match the photos with the subjects”.
· Go over the answers, having students say the names of the subjects aloud. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words.

Expansion: Show What You Know!
Ask students what other subjects they study. Write them on the board. Some other subjects may include computer science, physics chemistry, and biology. Alternately, bring in objects to represent the subjects and have students guess. Talk about what you study in those classes.

Purpose: to help students understand a reading to complete information
· Bring in a photo of a friend. Write on the board This is my friend _____ .He's / She's _____ years old. She is a _____ .Revise this language by holding up the photo, reading and completing the sentences on the board.
