Warm-up
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students know 5 country names and their famous landmarks
· Show a world map. Say“Find and point to China”. Direct students to the photos and say“Find the photo of China”. ( photo a) Say“Match the other photos with the correct countries.
· Go over the answers, having students say the names of the countries aloud. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words.

Expansion: Show What You Know!
Show the map again. Ask "Can you find America, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada?" Help students find the countries. Ask“Can you find other countries?”Have students write the countries on the board. Go over the spelling, allowing students to self-correct when possible.
Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students identify flags, spell country names and revise letters
· Ask "Which flag is China's?" (flag 1) Ask“How do you spell‘China’?” If students need help, write C_ _ _ a on the board, adding more letters if they need more help. Elicit C-H-I-N-A. Then say“Look at the other flags. Which countries do the flags belong to?”Use the spelling cues for help. Say“Complete the names of the countries”.. If students find it difficult, add more letters to the names of the countries. You may also have students work in pairs. For more proficient students, challenge them to complete the names without the cues.
· Go over the answers, asking individual students to write them on the board. Correct any spelling mistakes as a class. Have students say the names of the countries aloud. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words.
