外刊阅读 ▶ “答案与解析”见P3 音乐与工作 Can music help you pay attention to your work? A new study has some interesting results. The study from the University of Wales Institute examined the ability of 25 people aged 18 to 30 to remember information while listening to different sounds. In one task they had to remember a list of eight letters. Participants(参与者) in the study were tested under different conditions: in a quiet environment; while listening to music they liked; while listening to music they didn􀆳t like. The participants usualy did better when they were working in silence. The background music seemed to make remembering and recaling more difficult. However, scientists also found that listening to music before doing the tests seemed to help pay attention. “Although they believed that their favourite music was more pleasant, their performance was poor, just as it was when they listened to music they disliked,” explained one of the researchers. So, even if you􀆳re listening to music , it􀆳l stil cause trouble with your work. This would be at odds with the findings of scientists. They have researched what is popularly known as the “Mozart Effect”. This idea was proposed by a French doctor named Tomatis in 1991. Tomatis published a book, Pourquoi Mozart?.
