Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students talk about what they know about an astronaut's day
· Direct students to Photo C on page 41. Ask“What do you know about an astronaut's day?”Elicit some responses.
Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students list questions they have about an astronaut's day
· Ask“What do you know and want to know about an astronaut's day?”Elicit some responses. Say“Make a list of the questions you have”. Monitor, offering help as needed.
· Tell students that they will read a text about an astronaut's day. Tell them to see if some of their questions are answered.

Purpose: to help students skim a text and tick the areas mentioned
· Ask“When we skim a text, do we read it carefully, or do we read it quickly trying to find the general information?”Elicit We read it quickly and try to find the general information. Direct students to the bulleted list. Say“Skim the text and tick the areas mentioned”. Monitor, offering help as needed. If students need support, have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answers, asking individual students to say them aloud.
