Warm-up
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students know senses and make sentences using those words
· Play a game of“Simon Says”to warm up your students. Review all parts of the body, but be sure to have students touch these parts of the face: ears, eyes, nose and tongue. After playing the game for a few minutes, direct students to the Key Words. Read them aloud, or have a student read them. Do a short oral cloze activity, saying sentences with gaps for students to fill in: I _____ (smell) with my nose. I (see) _____ with my eyes. I _____ (touch / feel) with my hands. I _____ (taste) with my tongue. I _____ (hear) with my ears. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the words under the Key Words. Read them aloud, or have a student read them. Have students get into pairs. Say“Now make sentences about these things, using the Key Words”. Monitor, as students talk, offering help as needed.
· Come together as a class, asking students to share their sentences.
Expansion: Keep Talking!
Give students more items to talk about using the Key Words. Either write them on the board, make sets of cards or have the class brainstorm items. This should be a fun and light-hearted activity, like the Warm-up.
