Step 1 Pairwork
1. Ask for a show of hands of students who feel their parents are there for them, are patient and listen to problems.
2. Divide the class into pairs. Ask students to tell their partner about an occasion when their parents were helpful. Each student write notes to describe their partner’s problem and how the parents helped.
Step 2 Learning Strategy
1)Read the learning strategy and explain it to the students .
2) Ask students to give some examples.
Step 3 While-reading
1) Ask students to read the passage once without stopping for general understanding.
2) Suggesting a second reading to confirm their ideas and build on their knowledge.
Step 4 After-reading
1) 3a Using the first blank as an example, show the students the skill of identifying missing information. Then students have to finish the sentences.
2) 3b Ask students to complete the task and check it.
Step 5 Sum up the key words and phrases in the article
1) Ask students to complete the task by themselves.
2) Make sentences with some of the key words and phrases.
Step 6 Groupwork
Part 4 Go for it.
