Learn the attributive clauses which use“who”or“whose”. (1)He was a great thinker who had many wise ideas about human nature and behavior. (2)He was also a famous philosopher whose wise sayings have influenced many people in different countries. 3. Talk about a historical person: Confucius, a pioneer in the field of education. 4. Review some famous sayings. 2. Present a picture of Confucius and teach the new words in this section. Step 2 Presentation 1. 1b.Discuss the meanings of Confucius wise sayings and then read them. 2. Let’s listen to 1a once and then watch 1a video ,answer the questions. Step 3 Consolidation 1. Read 1a again and explain the main points in it. 2. Focus on the grammar of the attributive clauses, give some more examples. Step 4 Practice 1. Read the short biography of Confucius, put the sentences in the right order and deal with any difficult points in 1c. 2. Try to retell the life of Confucius according to the time, and give the students an example. 3. Part 2. Listening practice. Listen and fill in the blanks. Check the answers. Step 5 Consolidation 1. Sum up the useful expressions in Section A. 2. Do some exercises. Step 5 Homework 1. Try to retell 1a and 1c. 2. Collect some more Confucius’ wise sayings. 3. Learn to use attributive clauses. 4.
