  Class begin. Good morning, every one, today we’ll learn Unit 3 lesson 1 Spring Festival.

   First, please read the objectives together. One, two, three, go! Are you clear with the objectives. Ok, well done. As we all know, Spring festival is the most important festival in China. Now I have a question for you--Do you like spending Spring Festival? and Why?

   Yes, I totally agree with you. I also like spending Spring Festival, because during Spring Festival, I can have a long holiday, eat many delicious foods, dress new clothes and do many other relaxing activities. But do you know how do people celebrate Spring Festival? Now Let’ enjoy a short video, and try to find the answer to the question.

   Ok, let's stop here. WHO can answer this question?--how do people celebrate Spring Festival? Any volunteer?

   Yes, you are right. There are many ways people celebrate Spring Festival, for example: Clean the house from top to bottom, do shopping for the Spring, put up couplets and decorations, let/set off firecrackers , have a family reunion dinner at the New year's Eve, watch the Spring festival Gala and so on.

   From this video, we have known that Spring Festival is very important to all the Chinese people. But do you want to know more about how do people celebrate Spring Festival.

   Now we have known the main idea of this text. NOW read the three passages carefully, and try to find out some detailed information. Here are some reading strategies for your reference. Pay attention to the key words in the passages. (1) Signal words &phrases, which are closely linked to the logic of the passages, for example, firstly, secondly, thirdly, now, then, next, before, during... (2) Verbal words and phrases, which are related to one’s actions and behavior when he or she does something. (3) Adjectives related to one’s feelings and emotions.

    Now read passage 1 aloud , fill in the form and answer the following question: What does Spring festival mean to Tom? Now begin.

    So from this form we know what Tom and his host family did before and during spring festival and the meaning of these activities. Ok .    T: Yes, you're right. Thank you, sit down. for Tom, the Spring Festival means cool, excitement, fun.

   T: Based on the form and the question. I draw a mind map for your reference. (The main topic of my mind-map is Spring Festival for Tom Jenkens. It includes four parts--, activities, purposes, feelings or meanings. The backgrounds includes when, who and where. The activities includes the activities before Spring Festival and during Spring Festival. All these four activities have their own purposes. )

   From this mind map, we can clearly understand the main idea and detailed information of this passages.

   Now please read passage 2 and passage 3, draw a mind-map for Xu Gang’s and Li Yan’s accounts and try to find the meaning of Spring Festival to them. (学生阅读并画思维导图)

   Now I’ll divide you into two groups, group 1 and group 2. Group 1 read Xu Gang’s account, and finish the mind-map for Xu Gang’s account, and Group 2 read Li Yan’s account, and finish the mind-map for Li Yan’s account. When you finish it, I will ask two students to share your answers on behalf of your groups, are you clear? Here we go!
