John shivered as he stepped outside into the frosty winter morning. Fat snowflakes drifted down from the grey sky, soon covering the ground in a thick ,neat blanket of white. Icy gusts of wind swirled the falling snow into rolling waves that clouded his view down the frozen street. The bitter cold seized him instantly, piercing through his heavy wool coat and biting any exposed skin. He pulled his scarf up over his nose and tucked his chin down into it, seeking what little warmth he could find. His breath came out in frosty puffs that disappeared quickly in the icy air. Looking up, John saw the nearby river was completely frozen over, the glassy ice stretching off into the distance as far as he could see in an unbroken sheet of glinting white.

As his fingers failed him thoroughly,John tried blowing and breathing hot air onto his stiff, numb fingers in a vain attempt to warm them as he crunched through the knee-deep snow on the sidewalk. The trees lining the street were bare and bony, their naked branches rattling together mournfully in the biting wind. As John quickened his pace, the icy chill unmercifully seeped through his woolen layers, making him shake uncontrollably. He imagined how cozy and inviting his little apartment would feel compared to this wintry outdoors.

John pushed on against the needling chill of the roaring wind, feeling its sharp sting on his exposed skin. Upon reaching the coffee shop, a sigh of relief escaped him, instantly comforted by the enveloping warmth that greeted him.

Stepping out of the coffee shop, John steeled himself to brave the cold. At the shelter, he was met with smiles of gratitude as he donated the warm clothing he had brought. The homeless gathered together for warmth, desperately grasping the blankets and coats to wrap them in tightly. As John headed back out into the howling, swirling snow, he picked up his pace, dreaming of the cozy and inviting warmth of his humble apartment, calling to him like a fantasy amidst the  icy wasteland.

Finally reaching his building, John stepped gratefully over the threshold and back into the warmth, leaving the freezing winter storm behind. As feeling returned to his extremities, he imagined sinking into his comfy armchair with a hot cup of tea to warm his stiff, icy fingers.

2.自信

John awoke with composure and confidence coursing through his veins, ready to seize the day with vim and vigor. Like the radiant sun, he felt a steady sense of assurance rising within.

With a spring in his step, John whistled merrily as he prepared for school, his melody mixing with the birdsong outside. He gazed at his reflection and a grin blossomed across his face. “Chin up, you’ve got this!” he exclaimed, fixing his fist in resolution.

With a sparkle in his eye,John bounced into school, beaming from ear to ear. The trees waved gently in the breeze as if urging him on. He visualized the splendid prospects that lay ahead, firmly convinced. John knew deep down that success was not a matter of if, but when.

In class, John’s hand darted up, ever eager to answer questions. He was not cowed by mistakes, knowing they were but stepping stones on the path to mastery. At lunch, John amused his friends with witty anecdotes, filling the cafeteria with infectious and genuine laughter. He radiated enthusiasm while talking about his newest acquired tastes, like mastering the guitar and acting in the school play.

After school, John volunteered to tidy up eagerly and devotedly. A melody escaped his lips as he skillfully arranged the chairs and diligently swept the floors, leaving them gleaming. Fueled by his successes, John walked home with a confident air, his head held high, as the tender wind seemed to kiss his face. With firm faith in himself, he knew tomorrow held new triumphs and adventures waiting to be seized with optimism and self-assurance.

Lying in bed that night, John interlocked his hands behind his head and smiled contentedly as he reflected on the day. A sense of hope and possibility pulsed within him. Though challenges may arise, he would as well rise to them with calmness. With dedication to his goals and surrounded by uplifting individuals, John knew that the future held great promise. There were people to help, songs to sing, and heights to reach. And he could not wait to approach each new day with passion and determination.

page number 1

John could barely drag himself out of bed as the alarm clock blared for the third time. He hit snooze once more, knowing he had to get up for work but feeling completely drained. His limbs felt heavy and his eyelids could hardly stay open. After a sleepless night spent tossing and turning, John was beyond exhausted.

As he slowly sat up, every muscle in John's body screamed in protest. He was stiff, sore, and utterly wiped out. His usual morning routine seemed like an impossible feat. Just walking to the bathroom took enormous effort. When he looked in the mirror, John's expression turned sour upon seeing the dark circles under his bloodshot eyes. He splashed some cold water on his face, but it did little to wake him up.

John stared blankly at his messy reflection, feeling like a soulless being. His mind was foggy and  putting thoughts together took more energy than he could have gathered otherwise. The exhaustion had worn him down, leaving him feeling depleted. John was running on empty, ready to drop at any moment.

Dragging his feet towards the kitchen, John moved as if in a half-awake state, mechanically and robotically preparing a pot of coffee. The hot liquid usually energized him, but today he could barely taste it. He managed a few sips before pouring the rest into a travel mug. Just holding his head up really tried his physical strength. John's neck ached and his shoulders slumped forward heavily.

The drive to work was a blurry haze. John turned up the radio in an attempt to keep himself awake. He envied the people on the sidewalk, free to return home and crawl back into bed. As he pulled into the parking lot, John fought off  a yawn for what felt like the hundredth time. He was beyond tired of being tired.

Every step towards his office was laborious.  Somehow he made it to his desk, collapsing into the chair. John glanced at the mountain of paperwork awaiting him, thus causing him to feel more wiped out and fed up with the constant demands of his job. The never-ending cycle of work had left him feeling burned out, with no end in sight.Just the very thought of dealing with it made his head pound.

page number 2
