The Magic Melon

My name is Lee. I don’t like working. I like sleeping.

“Lee, can you help us plant the rice?” some farmers ask me.

“No!” I answer.

“Can you help us cook the rice?” those farmers ask me again.

“No!” I say.

It’s time for dinner. I ask those farmers, “Can I help to eat the rice?”

“No!” they say.

I am so hungry. Then I meet an old man with a melon.

“This is a magic melon,” says the old man. “What would you like for dinner?”

“I’d like some rice with beef,” I say.

The old man taps the melon and says, “I’d like some rice with beef, please!” PING! There is a bowl of rice with beef. It’s so yummy.

“I’d like the magic melon!” I say.

“You can grow one,” says the old man. “Here is a seed（种子）for you. Water it three times a day.”

On Monday, I water the seed three times. On Tuesday, I water the seed two times. On Wednesday, I don’t water the seed. I go to sleep again. The melon grows bigger and bigger. I tap the melon and say, “I’d like some rice with chicken, please!” PING! NO! There isn’t any food.

“Ha! Ha!...” the old man comes. “A lazy（懒惰的）boy, a lazy melon!”
