“When the bad weather came, it was bad, but it was worse and became scary when the GPS died,” Livae said. “We couldn’t see where we were going, so we just decided to stop the boat and wait, to save fuel (燃料) [1].”
The two seamen lived on oranges that they’d packed for the trip, coconuts (椰子) that they picked from the trees and rainwater that they collected for the next 29 days.
On October 2nd, Livae and Junior were saved by a fisherman off the coast of Papua New Guinea. They had floated (漂浮) 248 miles from where their journey began. “We didn’t know where we were but did not expect to be in another country,” Nanjikana said.

Although the men lost themselves at sea for nearly a month, they have returned with very positive attitude (积极的态度) [2]. “I had no idea what was going on while I was out there.
