(2023·东莞中学期末改编)
I’m Kristy. I think friends play an important part in everyone’s life. All of us, rich or poor, should have at least one or two true friends. A true friend is always ready to help you.
When I was thirteen, I moved to Washington D.C. with my grandparents. When I studied in a middle school, I met Jayce and she became my first and best friend. That’s because she is a lovely and outgoing girl and always helps me a lot.

Two years later, my grandparents died because of a car accident (事故)[1]. I felt very sad and didn’t want to say anything. I had to live alone (独自地) and do all the things by myself. After Jayce knew this, she asked me to live with her and her family. After that, she spent more time talking with me and did many things to make me happy again[2]. With the help of her and her family, I finished my middle school and kept on learning at the university.
I learned a lot when I lived with them. I got to know the true meaning of family and friendship (友谊). Jayce’s parents were very kind and they taught me about life. They saved my life! I want to show my biggest thanks to Jayce’s parents.
