What is April Fool’s Day and what are its origins? S: The festival is on April 1 of the Gregorian calendar. S: It is a popular folk festival in the West since the 19th century, and has not been recognized as a legal festival by any country. S: But it is well known in Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States. S: On this day, people cheat and tease each other in various ways, and often expose and announce that the target of the joke is “fool” at the end of the joke. Step 2 Pre-listening 1.
