Longman Welcome to English Gold 2B-Chapters 3 and 4 B.Group game (Swat the card) Aim: To reinforce the correct use of the simple present tense form of some verbs Description of the game: Pupils swat the word card that contains the correct verb form. You will need: 1.A copy of Word Cards(Sets 1-8) 2.Some adhesive tape/Blu-Tack for sticking the word cards on the board 3.Four fly swatters Steps: 1.Cut out the word cards.Be careful not to mix up each set. 2.Divide the board into three columns and stick the word cards from Set 1 on the board.Stick 'wash', 'washs'and 'washes'in the middle column and 'the dishes.'in the third column.If you have concerns about exposing pupils to incorrect forms,you can leave out'washs'.Leave the first column empty at this stage. 3.Divide the class into four groups.Invite a pupil from each group to the front and hand them each a fly swatter.Explain to the class that these four pupils are now going to race to swat the correct word in the middle column. 4.You count 'One,two,three!'and stick Billy'in the first column.The pupils have to swat the correct word,i.e.'washes',in the middle column.The fastest one has to read the complete sentence out loud before winning a point for his /her group. 5.Continue the game with the remaining sets of word cards.The group with the most points at the end of the game wins. 6.You can use the blank word cards provided if you wish to extend the game.
