Longman Welcome to English Gold 1B-Chapters 5 and 6 B.Class game (Unscrambling sentences) Aim: To reinforce the correct use of 'he/she',his /her'and 'is/are' Description of the game: Pupils unscramble sentences and write the answers on the worksheet You will need: 1.A set of the word cards 2.A copy of the worksheet for each group of 10 pupils in the class 3.A visualiser Steps: 1.Cut out the word cards before class.Do not mix up the word cards in different sentences. 2.Divide the class into groups of 10 pupils.Choose a leader for each group.Give each group a copy of the worksheet. 3.Show one set of word cards to the pupils using the visualiser. 4.The pupils in each group work together to rearrange the words in the correct order and write the sentence on the worksheet. 5.Ask the group leaders to put up their hands once their group has written down the correct sentence. The group leader who is the quickest to raise his/her hand can then read out their answer after you have signalled him/her to speak.The group wins one point for a correct sentence.If the answer is wrong,the group loses the chance to score and other groups can try. 6. Continue the game with the rest of the sentences. 7. The group with the most points at the end of the game wins. Alternative: For a more able class,you can use the sentences on the Word Cards for More Able Pupils.Tell pupils that there is one distraction in each sentence.
