For example: She gets up at six o’clock every morning. We play basketball on Mondays and Thursdays. They often discuss business at dinner. 1 2 3 4 We use the simple present tense when we talk about: 1 My hair is long. things that are true now. 1 2 3 4 We use the simple present tense when we talk about: 2 things that we do regularly. We use ‘I’m’, ‘you’re’, ‘we’re’, ‘they’re’, ‘he’s’, ‘she’s’ and ‘it’s’ when we write to our friends or when we speak. Simple present tense of ‘to be’ 1 2 3 I am/’m happy. I am not/’m not happy. You/We/They are/’re You/We/They are not/aren’t He/She/It is/’s He/She/It is not/isn’t We make positive and negative sentences using the verb ‘to be’ in the simple present tense like this: Tips 1 2 3 We ask and answer questions using the verb ‘to be’ in the simple present tense like this: Am I happy? Are you/we/they Is he/she/it Yes, I am. No, I am not/’m not. you/we/they are. you/we/they are not/aren’t. he/she/it is. he/she/it is not/isn’t.
