Countable and Uncountable Nouns 副标题 1 A noun is a word that refers to person, place, thing, event, substance or quality; can be either countable or uncountable. 名词是指人、地点、事物、事件、物质或质量的词;可以是可数的也可以是不可数的。 Countable nouns have singular and plural forms while uncountable nouns can be used only in the singular form. 可数名词有单数和复数形式,而不可数名词只能以单数形式使用。 那么,如何区分可数名词与不可数名词呢? 今天就让我们一起来学习一下! Countable nouns, as the term suggests, are things that can be counted. They have singular and plural forms. 什么是可数名词? 顾名思义,就是可以数得过来的名词 E.g. table, tables; month, months; pen, pens A countable noun becomes plural by adding s at the end of the word. Of course, there are nouns that form plurals in other ways. 大多数情况下,可数名词变为复数,后面直接加+s,例如;teachers, tables ,cups.. 也有不规则的: man, men; child, children; goose, geese. In contrast, uncountable nouns cannot be counted. They have a singular form and do not have a plural form – you can’t add an s to it, e.g. dirt, rice, information and hair. 相反,不可数名词不能计数。 它们有单数形式,没有复数形式——你不能在后面加s,例如dirt, rice, information ,hair 还有一些比较抽象的词: advice and knowledge. E.g.看下面的例句 Her jewellery is designed by a well-known designer. I needed some advice, so I went to see the counsellor. 她的首饰是由一位著名设计师设计的。 我需要一些建议,所以我去看了辅导员。 Some nouns can be countable or uncountable depending on the context or situation. 有些名词既可以可数,也可以作不可数名词使用: E.g. • We’ll have two coffees (countable). • I don’t like coffee (uncountable). You cannot refer to a singular countable noun on its own. It is usually preceded by an article, either the indefinite article – a, an – or the definite article the. 你不能单独指代单数可数名词,也就是可数名词不能单独使用。 它的前面通常有冠词,不定冠词- a, an -或定冠词the。 例如: Incorret:Apple is on the table. Correct:An apple is on the table? 你明白了吗? 这里需要注意的是,如果可数名词第一次提到,我们可以用a/an 但是当我们第二次提到的时候,我们要用the 例如: I saw a (indefinite article) cat yesterday. The (definite article) cat was grey with black stripes. The girl was wearing a (indefinite article preceding word with a consonant sound “you”) uniform but it looked faded. The (definite article)
