(Cultural awareness) Teaching and learning important points: 1) Learning about the organization and language features of a student profile; 2) Practicing writing a student profile. Teaching and learning difficult point: Writing Practice—writing a student profile. Teaching and learning procedures: Step 1 Review Activity 1 Review 1. Revise the new language items learned in the previous period. 2. Comments on the students’ report titled “Reflection on my English learning strategies”. Share some English learning strategies and meaningful reflection. Step2 Reading for writing Activity 2 Leading in 1. Lead in the topic with the pictures and explain what a profile is. A profile is a short description of sb’s life, work, character and so on. 2. Present the teaching topic and learning contents and objectives of this period. Activity 3 Reading comprehension 1. Talk about what should be included in a student profile. (Possible answers: name, age, sex, grade, school, personality, hobbies, favourite subject, life style, learning style, future plan and dreams,…) 2. Read the two student profiles to find out which of the above aspects are included in the profiles and find the answer to the questions.
