Do you know the Great Wall? 2. Have you ever been to the Great Wall? 备 注 (二)学习探究 第一学程:Translate the text from Para.1 to Para.3 in a group. The Great Wall The Great Wall is one of the world’s most famous wonders. It is located in the north of China. Building of the Great Wall first began during the Warring States Period (476-221BC). The walls were built to protect these states. In 221 BC, the first Emperor of the Qin Dynasty unified China and decided to have the walls linked and extended. It is said that about 1 million people, one fifth of China’s population at the time, were forced to build the Wall. It took them more than ten years to build it under terrible conditions. They had to carry all the stones, bricks and lime up to the top of mountains by hand.
