It consists of a standing deer figure and 100 red flowers on its antlers (角). Without any other tools, he used only a piece of paper with side lengths of 2 meters and 22 centimeters to finish the whole work. Although people might be amazed at the complexity of the design and skills needed to produce the work, the most difficult part for Pei was creating it in a way that showed its symbolic meaning. Inspired by the poem To the Oak by Chinese poet Shu Ting, he made the design to express his deep love for China. “By naming it huasheng manlu, a Chinese idiom signaling glory and perfection, I am expressing my hope for Chinese youth to build the Belt and Road together and finally come into a bright future.” said Pei. Apart from interest, another reason for Pei􀆳s efforts in origami is to help Chinese culture go global.
