【人物故事】 A night of moon gazing before the exam 用天文望远镜看月食 It’s a great experience to watch lunar eclipse. On Nov 8, I saw a total lunar eclipse (月 全食 ) at my school. Although the next day was the mid-term exam, my mom still supported me and sent my telescope (望远镜) to school. It was 18:00. I set up the telescope. At 19:19, the moon would “eat” Uranus (天王星). It was very rare (罕见的) to see this! When everything was ready, I started to wait and have my dinner: a hamburger, a banana and a bottle of yogurt. “The moon is rising! How big,” a student suddenly shouted. I gulped down (大口吞下) the last piece of hamburger and quickly pointed the telescope at the moon. Everything was clear and awesome. I saw the Crisium basin, the Copernicus crater, the Tycho crater … Lots of students came to me and had a look. “Unbelievable!” “Amazing!” they said. Perhaps they had never seen the moon so clearly like this. My science teacher Ms Bao also came. “Can I have a look?” “I’m afraid you need to line up,” I told her. She walked to the end of the line, which was 10 meters away from the telescope. At about 18:59 came the most exciting part – the middle phase of the eclipse. The moon turned red. We all saw it with our naked (裸的) eyes. Then from 19:19 to 20:23, the moon covered Uranus! Because Uranus is too far from Earth, it was just a small point in the telescope. But I saw it for the first time! When I went back to the dorm (宿舍 ), my mind was full of the lunar eclipse and Uranus. Luckily, the result of my exam the next day was very good! 1.
