建党节 The Party's Day Enjoy a video: Let's Party! The Communist Party of China is the ruling political party in China. The day of its foundation is a public holiday. On July 1, the Chinese celebrate Communist Party of China Founding Day (or CPC Founding Day). The Communist Party of China originates in the May Fourth Movement of 1919. This was an anti-imperialist and cultural movement that developed from student demonstrations. The leaders of the movement, Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao, supported Leninism and world revolution. They thought that the October Revolution in Russia was a groundbreaking event that would start a new era for all oppressed countries everywhere. They organized the first Marxist groups in North China and later became key figures in the foundation of the CPC.
