Unit 7 Invention and Innovation Compound Sentence (并列句） Part A 单元语法教学 一、 并列句的定义: 由并列连词and, but, or 等把两个或两个以上的简单句连在一起而构成的句子。 二、 并列句的构成： 并列句的基本结构是：简单句 + 并列连词 + 简单句 例如: I help him and he helps me. You must put on your coat, or you’ll have a bad cold in such a cold day. 三、 并列句的四种基本类型: 1. 转折并列句： 主要由but(但是), yet(可是), while(而，却)等连词连接。 ① but： 但是，可是，而，却 例如: We’ve invited the boss, but she may decide not to come. I’d like to go but I’m too busy. She looks very young, but she is already in her 30’s. ② yet： 但是，然而，尽管如此 可连接两个句子，用逗号分开，也可在yet前加and，还可以放在一个句子的句首。 例如: The car is old, yet it is in good condition. 这辆车旧了，但车况很好。 I gave him ten pounds (and) yet he was not satisfied.  我给了他十镑但他仍不满足。 Yet the house was cheerful.  但屋子里显得很欢快。 ③ while： 而，然而，但是，可是，却 while 作连词用时，可表示对比或转折关系。 例如: You like tennis, while I’d rather read.  你爱打网球，但我爱看书。 I like tea while she likes coffee. 我喜欢喝茶而她喜欢喝咖啡。 2. 因果并列句： 主要由 for(因为), so(因此)等连词连接。 ① for：因为 由并列连词 for 引导的分句常置于句子后部，而且常用逗号与前面的分句隔开。for 分句主要是对前一分句补充说明理由或推断原因。for 分句不能用来回答 why 问句。 例如: I am thirsty, for it is hot. 我口渴，因为天气太热。 He shook his head, for he thought differently.  他摇了摇头，因为他有不同想法。② so: 因此, 所以 可以连接两个句子，中间有时用逗号隔开; 也可在so前加and; 还可以放在一个句子的句首。 例如: The manager was ill so I went in her place. 经理病了所以我代她去。 He worked hard and so he succeeded. 他勤奋工作，所以他取得了成功。 So I like to communicate with others.  所以我很喜欢与人沟通。 3. 选择并列句： 主要由or (或者，还是，否则), either…or…(或者……或者……；不是……就是……), otherwise (否则，不然)等连词连接。 or： 连接并列成分时，意为“或者，还是”;用于否定句中，意为“也不”，这时不宜用and;还有“否则，不然”之意，相当于otherwise 例如: Hurry up! Or you will be late! Be careful about what you say or you may regret it.  当心你讲的话，否则你会后悔的。 As a small boy, he spent his days either reading or watching cricket.  当他是个小男孩的时候，他每天要么读书，要么看板球。 Either you’ll leave this house or I’ll call the police. 你要是不离开这座房子，我就叫警察来。 Seize the chance, otherwise you will regret it. 要抓住机会，否则你会后悔的。 4. 联合并列句： 主要由and, not only…but also…(不但……而且……), neither…nor…（既不……也不……），both…and…（既……又……），when (and just at this time：就在这时) 等连词
