Dear Sir,
I am Jennifer, a university student. I am writing to bring to your attention the method of doing business practiced by Devious Enterprises Pte Ltd, of 12 Hasty Street. It is close to my campus.
On Saturday May 30, I went to the shop and bought a pair of sports shoes. The price I paid was $145. This is hard-earned money. I was shocked that after I bought and paid the price asked, I saw the same pair of shoes at a shop in Chinatown for $75. This is only slightly more than half the price of the pair I bought. Immediately I went back to the shop and explained the situation. I told the owner what I had seen. I demanded that he take back the shoes and return my money. He just laughed at me and told me to “get lost”.
I am writing to you as I believed that you are the body that makes sure that businessmen do their business properly. I would like all my money back in return for the shoes or I am willing to accept the shoes if I get $70 back. I have not used the pair of shoes and am keeping it in its box. A copy of the receipt is enclosed for your attention.
Thank you for your assistance.

Jack was a clever boy, but his parents were farmers and poor, so he had to work during his holidays to pay for his education. In spite of this, he managed to go to university, but it was so expensive to study there that during the holidays he found it necessary to get two jobs at the same time so as to earn money to pay for his studies.
