Robert Frost (1874–1963) was one of
America’s most famous poets. He won the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry four times and was
awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for
his works. His poetry has been praised for its
natural themes, mostly set in the rural areas
of New England where Frost lived most of
his life, and for his colloquial approach to
American language. His poetry generally
has a regular rhythm and rhyme, and is
easy to read aloud and remember. He often
used simple settings in his poems to explore
complex personal and social themes. Among
Frost’s best-known poems are The Road Not
Taken, Fire and Ice, Stopping by Woods on a
Snowy Evening and Birches.

What difficult decision is Li Ling facing?
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
Take notes quickly!
