动词不定式是非谓语动词的一种,它没有人称和数的变化,有一般式、进行式和完成式三种时态;有主动和被动两种语态。否定式将“not”放在不定式符号“to”之前。动词不定式具有名词、形容词和副词的特征,在句中可以作主语、宾语、表语、定语、状语、宾语补足语等,但不能作谓语。
Ⅰ. 不定式作表语的用法
1. 不定式作表语时,一般紧跟在系动词后面,用来说明主语的内容或状况。
The best way to build a great team is to gather a group of the most talented individuals.
打造一支出色的队伍最好的方法是把最有才华的个人聚到一起。

2. 主语和表语都是不定式(其含义往往一是条件,一是结果)。
To be kind to the enemy is to be cruel to the people. 对敌人善良就是对人民的残忍。

3. 主语是以way、 aim、 purpose、 mistake、 plan、 proposal、 job、 suggestion、 task、 duty、 hope、 dream、 idea、 intention等抽象名词为中心词的名词词组,常在be动词后用不定式作表语。
