When botanical gardens are full of beautiful fl owers, towns around the world will celebrate their
favorite local fl owers with festivals. Here we introduce some of the best places to view spring fl owers.
So put on some spring clothes and have a look at the true wonders of the season.
Daffodils, Britain
The British love daffodils. Every year in March, thousands of people across the country come to
daffodil festivals to admire the fl ower. The biggest daffodil festival in Britain is held in the village of
Thriplow in South Cambridgeshire, where there are so many daffodils that they paint the entire area yellow.
When to go: The fi rst two weeks of April.
Tulips, The Netherlands
Tulips were fi rst introduced from Asia in the 17th century, but over the centuries the Dutch have
made the fl ower their own. The country’s Keukenhof Gardens is the largest tulip site in the world, with
more than 4 million tulips in 100 varieties covering an area of 32 hectares, according to a television.
The garden opens to visitors between March and May when the fl owers reach perfection.
Cherry Blossoms, Japan
The coming of the cherry blossoms (Sakura) is one of the most exciting events in Japan. Cherry
blossoms have a cultural signifi cance in the country. They fall to the ground and disappear in only a
couple of weeks, and the Japanese believe they are just like the short youth and life itself.
In a typical cherry blossom festival, families and friends gather under fl owering trees to enjoy
picnics, barbecues and tea ceremonies. Sometimes the festival continues late into the night.
When to go: From the end of March to early May when cherry blossoms bloom all over Japan.
