Level 2 程门立雪-【优可】漫说中国故事（英语分级阅读）

It is cold and cloudy when Xiao You, Xiao Ke and Xiao Zhi arrive at the gate of an academy. It looks as if it is going to snow. “So cold! Who would you like us to meet?” Xiao You wraps himself in his coat and asks. 2 程门立雪.indd 2 2022/3/7 17:52:26 Xiao Zhi says, “I’d like you to meet a great master, Cheng Yi. You will see him in a minute.” “Great! Let’s go!” says Xiao You. 3 程门立雪.indd 3 2022/3/7 17:52:26 As soon as they come into a yard, they see two middle-aged men standing outside a house. Xiao Ke is curious. Then she comes up to them and asks, “Sir, why don’t you go into the house? It is so cold outside.” 4 程门立雪.indd 4 2022/3/7 17:52:26 As soon as they come into a yard, they see two middle-aged men standing outside a house. Xiao Ke is curious. Then she comes up to them and asks, “Sir, why don’t you go into the house? It is so cold outside.” “Excuse me. I’m Mr. Cheng’s page. Who are you? Why are you here?” a child cuts in before the two men make an answer. Xiao Ke answers, “I’m Xiao Ke and he’s Xiao You. We’d like to visit Mr. Cheng.” 5 程门立雪.indd 5 2022/3/7 17:52:27 The child is about to announce when one of the middle-aged men stops him. He says, “Our teacher is taking a nap. Why don’t you wait if you are not in a hurry?” 6 程门立雪.indd 6 2022/3/7 17:52:27 “Well, we’d better wait for a while,” Xiao Zhi says to the other two. So they stay outside. Xiao Ke asks, “Sir, may I know your name? Have you been waiting here?” 7 程门立雪.indd 7 2022/3/7 17:52:27 The man says, “I’m Yang Shi. My friend You Zuo and I have questions to ask our teacher. But when we get here, he is napping. So we’re waiting.” 8 程门立雪.indd 8 2022/3/7 17:52:28 Xiao You says, “You are Mr. Cheng’s student! Mr. Yang, can you introduce us to him when he wakes up?” 9 程门立雪.indd 9 2022/3/7 17:52:28 “All right!” Yang Shi agrees. In order not to disturb Mr. Cheng, they stop talking and wait quietly. After a while, it starts to snow. 10 程门立雪.indd 10
