Step 1. Lead-in
1. Look at some questions on the PPT and think about them.
2. Small talk: have a discussion about what to do in those situations and share their ideas.
3. T leads in the topic of this class by offering a possible solution: leaving a short message.
Step 2. Before-writing
1. Get to know the meaning of a short message: We often write a short message to family members, friends or classmates to make suggestions or remind them about something.
2. Learn the format of a short message by finishing the exercises on P28: What does a short message include? Look at the short message below and write the letters a-f in the blanks.
3. Learn the rules about short messages by analyzing the content of a short message on P28:
· Start with a greeting (e.g. Dear …).
· Talk about the topic in the first sentence.
· Give the message clearly in a few words.
· End with a friendly expression (e.g. Best wishes).
4. Have a small summary of the features and format of short messages.
Step 3. While-writing
1. Try to write a short massage with the information given: P28, B You will watch a ballet with your friend on Sunday. Write a short message to remind him/her about it. Use the notes below to help you.
2. Give a brief format of the short message, ask Ss to dill in the blanks.
Step 4. Post-writing
1. Teacher provides 4C standards ---complete, correct, coherent and clear to help students revise a message.
