(2022·山东济南历下一模)One morning, I saw romance(浪漫) in a place where I 1 expected to find it—a nursing home.
A few days earlier, an old couple came to the home. Since there wasn't a double room 2 , they separated the couple. Mr. West slept in a bed beside my father. His wife, Mrs. West, 3 a room with other women.
When I went to see my 4 that morning, I met Mr. West. 5 staff were working with him. He had eaten nothing for several days. While one nurse was trying to get him to open his mouth, another nurse was trying to ask him to 6 something. The third nurse was standing nearby with a bowl of noodles. Mr. West 7 to open his mouth.
Finally, he said something about his wife. “Go and get Mrs. West,” the nurse said. “Maybe Mr. West will eat for 8 .”
A few minutes later, a kindlooking lady arrived in a wheelchair. A 9 smile came to Mr. West's face. I couldn't move my eyes off the couple. Everyone could feel the 10 between them, as Mrs. West held Mr. West's hand.
With a soft 11 , Mrs. West encouraged Mr. West to eat. To everyone's surprise, Mr. West opened his mouth and began to enjoy the food. While the nurses fed him, he 12 at his wife with a smile on his face. Mrs. West began singing to him.
Tears filled my eyes. I discovered that romance doesn't only exist(存在) when we're 13 and in love. Romance lasts a lifetime and grows 14 with age.
Today, Mr. and Mrs. West live together in a place where there are no nursing homes or wheelchairs. And there are no rooms 15 them.
