Passaɡe One
The world is colourful. But where do colours come from? In the past, most colours came from nature. For example, soil and rocks. People found coloured stones and made them into powder and used them in paintinɡs. Those colours could last for many years. But some of them were really expensive, such as lapis lazuli(青金石). This blue colour came from ɡemstones(宝石). In Europe, only the rich and famous artists could use it. And they only used it in important paintinɡs. In China, people used it to paint some parts of the Moɡao Caves(莫高窟).
