We can use ‘Are … ing?’ to ask questions about making sure people do.
A: Are they hiking?
B: Yes, they are.
A: Are they having dinner?
B: No, they aren’t.
We can also use ‘Is … ing?’ to ask questions about making sure person do.
A: Is she playing football?
B: Yes, she is.
A: Is she looking for juice?
B: No, she isn’t.
These are all countable nouns!
Let’s count these food items.

Do you remember how to form the plural form of countable nouns?

We can’t count them!
We use ‘There is / are …’ to say that something exists. We use ‘There is …’ with uncountable nouns.
