The Analysis of the Teaching Material
The unit is chosen from the Senior High English3 published by the Beijing Normal University Publishing House. And the topic of this unit is green living.
What: “Roots & Shoots” unfolds around the topic of energy-conservation, harmony between human, animal and plant and non-profit action. This passage belongs to the topic of “Human and Society” and introduce some energy wasting phenomena as well as the history and development of the “Roots & Shoots”. The passage implies multiple information about human, society and nature and the author’s thinking and feeling.
How: This is an expository writing containing four paragraphs, each of which focus on different aspects. And each paragraph relates to a logic order from general information to detailed information.
Why: The author, through introducing Dr. Jane Goodall and the “Roots & Shoots”, hopes people can aware the waste of energy and participate in the voluntary and cooperated work to save and energy and consolidate the relationship between human, nature and animals.
