Oxford English Lesson Plan Unit 11 Period 1 Course: Oxford English Class: B2 Time: 40 minutes Objectives: 1. Learn new words and phrases, like flash, thunder, frightened, etc. 2. Know the origin, transfer and usage of electricity. 3. Know some rhetorical methods like rhymes and repetition. 4. Know that we could use songs to learn English better. Materials: computer, ppt, Oxford English book. 1. Warm up (1) (ppt 2-6) Lead in: Share some of Miss. Yang’s favorite songs. Discuss their language features in lyrics. Rhyme, repetition, telling a story and showing a picture. 2. While-teaching (1) (ppt 7) Brain storm: The start of electricity. Read the first 2 stanzas of the poem Lightning. Summarize the features of it. (2) (ppt 8-10) Learn new words. Then answer questions according to these 2 stanzas. (3) (ppt 11-13) Read pictures and the next 2 stanzas, answer questions and learn some new words. 3. Post-teaching (1) (ppt 14-16) Read the poem together by filling the last word of each line. (2) (ppt 17) Using electricity: try to write down other uses of electricity. (3) (ppt 18) Sing a song together for fun. (3) Homework: a. Recite all the new words and text. Copy new words. b.
