Oxford English Lesson Plan Unit 1 Period 1 (p 1) Course: Oxford English Class: B2 Time: 40 minutes Objectives: 1. Restate the requirements of class performance and homework. 2. Share their stories during the holiday. 3. Learn the names of capital and country; and learn how to express locations of different places. Eight directions. Materials: computer, ppt, Oxford English book. 1. Warm up (1) (ppt 2) Restate classroom and homework requirements. Give presents to the outstanding students according to their performances during the last semester. (2) (ppt 3-5) Share teacher’s traveling story during the winter holiday. Then invite students to say something about their trips and interesting stories. 2. While-teaching (1) (ppt 6-7) Look at the global map, introduce the seven continents to students. Nurture the good habit of note taking. Then introduce the topic of great cities in Asia. Our China is in Asia. (2) (ppt 8-9) Introduce the map of Asia, and discuss: Which city is a great city in Asia? Why? (3) (ppt 10-11) Show 4 pictures of great cities in Asia: Beijing, Tokyo, Bangkok and Seoul. And the name of countries and their people. For instance: China, Chinese. (4) (ppt 12) Discuss other great cities in other continents: Paris, France. French, Frenchmen/ Frenchman. Europe. European. (5) (ppt 13-16) Practice: two students make dialogues according to the pictures. London, Canberra, Washington. D. C., Berlin. (6) (ppt 17) Look at the larger map of the 4 capitals in Asia, learn how to talk about their locations to each other. Eight different directions: north-west, north-east; south-west, south-east. (7) (ppt 18-19) Look at the map and tell the directions between two great cities. First filling the blanks together, then work in pairs to figure out the directions.
