Tips
Step 1 Lead in
· Smash the golden eggs and say the Chinese phrases in English.
T can make this activity as a competition game:
Step 1: Divide Ss into several groups. Name each group (e.g. Group A, Group B) and write the group names on the board.
Step 2: Choose one S to smash the egg. When the Chinese phrase is shown on PPT, the S who knows the answer can raise his / her hand (or rush to the front of the class) to give the class the answer. If the answer is correct, T needs to give score to that group.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 till all the eggs are smashed.
Step 4: In the end, T shows the English translation of all the phrases on PPT and asks Ss to read them aloud.
· Pair up, ask Ss to talk about their plans about watching TV. Then talk about their opinions about some types of TV shows.
Step 1: Get Ss to work in groups of four. Let Ss in a group to take turns to ask and answer the question (e.g. S1 asks S2, S2 asks S3, S3 asks S4, S4 asks S1): What do you plan to watch tonight? I plan to watch ...
Step 2: Ask each group to prepare a piece of paper and make a survey about each person’s opinion about some certain kinds of TV shows in the group. (e.g. What do you think of talk shows / soap operas ...? What can you expect to learn from them?) Each group should pick one S to write down the result of the survey.
Step 3: Let each group to choose one S to share the result of the survey to the class.
