Step 1 Warming up
· Revision
Show Jane’s diary to Ss. Ask them to answer the questions:
1. Where did Jane go?
2. When did she go?
3. Who did she go with?
4. What did she do ?
· Show PPT P6 to help Ss review the passage.
Step 2 Presentation & Reading
3a
· In activity 3a, T may want to have Ss first work in pairs to decide which words can be correctly placed in each of the blanks. Then Ss can be asked to create their diary entries choosing from those words that have been identified.
Suggested answers: August, hot and sunny, Tian’anmen Square / the Palace Museum / a Beijing hutong, interesting / beautiful, took some photos / bought something special, I learned something important, Beijing duck, delicious, tired

· T may want to have Ss first do activity 3b in the following way before writing the answers to the questions:
1. Read aloud (and have Ss repeat aloud) the questions.
2. Confirm that Ss understand the meaning of each of the questions when they hear the question being said aloud.
3. Tell Ss that they are going to remember a real vacation or make up a dream vacation.
4. Tell Ss to close their eyes.
5. Ask the questions in the textbook and any other questions that will help Ss to visualize in the minds their vacation.

· Ask Ss to write a travel diary like Jane’s on page 5. Tell them that they can use notes in 3b.
