Explain to students that we can use ‘’ to join two parts of a sentence. Each part has an opposite idea. 2 Explain that ‘although’ has a similar meaning to ‘but’. However, we never use ‘but’ in a sentence with ‘although’. Remind the students that ‘although’ is followed by a subject and then a verb.
