一、概述 用来连接词、短语、从句与句子的词叫连词。 连词是一种虚词,在句中不单独作任何成分。 根据性质和 意义,连词可分为并列连词和从属连词两类。 二、并列连词 并列连词连接两个相互平等的词、短语或句子。 并列连词 用法 例句 and, both 􀆺 and, not only 􀆺 but also, neither􀆺nor􀆺 表示并列关系 She not only wrote the text, but also selected the pictures. 她不仅写了正文部分,而且还挑选了图画。 Work hard and you will succeed. 如果你努力工作,就会成功。 but, yet, while, whereas 表示转折关系 Learning the guitar isn’t difficult, but you have to practice. 学弹吉他并不难,但你得练习。 or, or else, either􀆺or􀆺, not􀆺but􀆺 表示选择关系 He never smokes or drinks. 他从不吸烟,也不喝酒。 Put on your overcoat, or (else) you will catch a cold. 穿上你的大衣,不然你会着凉的。 for, so 表示因果关系 I apologized to her, for I had wronged her. 我向她道歉了,因为我错怪了她。 三、从属连词 用来引导从句的连词叫从属连词。 从属连词可分为两类:引导名词性从句的从属连词和引导状语从句 的从属连词。 (一)引导名词性从句的从属连词 引导名词性从句的从属连词主要有 that, whether 和 if。 That he let out the news annoys all of us. 他泄露消息的事让我们很不高兴。 I am wondering if you could help me. 不知你能否帮我一下。 (二)引导状语从句的从属连词 引导状语从句的从属连词有 when, while, as, after, before, since, because, till / until, once, as soon as, 53 where, wherever, if, unless, as long as, so that, thought / although, as if 等(其具体用法详见本书第二部分第 四章)。 He saw that she was smiling as she read. 他看到她一边看书一边笑。 Please write it down before you forget it. 趁你还没有忘记之前就请记下来吧。 We’ve never met since we graduated from the college. 大学毕业后我们就再没见过面。 I didn’t go abroad with her because I couldn’t afford it. 我没有和她一起出国,因为我负担不起。 As long as it doesn’t rain, we can play. 只要不下雨我们就能玩。 The expert spoke slowly in order that / so that everyone could understand. 那位专家讲得很慢,以便每个人都能听得懂。 　 I don’t know he will agree to the plan or not.
